If you’ve been lucky enough to experience the Sportbike Tyre and Suspension services at an Eastern Creek Ride Day recently you may have recognised one of our tyre technicians, Michael Fraser. Apart from being a regular Eastern Creek Ride Day customer and proud exponent of the California Superbike School, Michael is also currently competing in the Australian Superbike Championship!
After a stunning debut year in national road racing during 2006, the reigning Formula Extreme Cup Champion successfully transitioned to the Australian Superbike Championship at the opening round at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway. As a purely privateer effort, Fraser qualified strongly with a blistering 1m33.276s lap, which compared well with the pole time set by full factory rider Jamie Stauffer of 1m31.773s. Fraser’s Dunlop shod 2006 model Suzuki GSX-R1000, purchased second hand at the end of last season, is carefully developed and maintained by Frasers brother Robert and even some of the crew from Eastern Creek Ride Days!
Final results for the Fraser Brothers Racing outfit during the weekend were 12th & 10th in the two races, leaving him 10th overall in the series standings, 4th highest privateer, and leading the "B" Grade title race. Unable to afford racing in the World Superbike support races, Michael’s next outing will be at the championship double header at Winton Motor Raceway on March 22nd - 25th.
We will keep you updated throughout the year on Michael’s progress and make sure you wish him all the best if you see him at the ‘creek on your next Ride Day.
